1-800-Odd Duck

If you could spend the next year as someone radically different from the current “you” — a member of a different species, someone from a different gender or generation, etc. — who would you choose to be?

That’s right, if you bite on this prompt and sink your talons in you are an odd duck. (I know, they don’t have talons.) I gave up on Daily Post a while ago, because they appeared sophomoric. That’s really the nature of them, though. They are whimsical and silly at times – well, most of the time. They do bring out something in us. Some we get right away; inspiration comes in a flash. Others cast a long dark shadow over our thinking; nothing happens.

Anyway when I saw this prompt the first thing I thought was, “her comes all the freaks.” Sorry, just being honest.

What I mean who really thinks about being another something else? Maybe I’m on the wrong side of the curve here, but the thought has never entered my mind.

When I was a kid (6 or 7) I remember a friend saying, “Let’s pretend to be horses.” I said, “I’m out of here.” Even then I suspicioned this would eventually go some place I don’t want to go. Once I did the horse thing it would have been, “Let’s dress up in your Mom’s cloths.”

Nope, note even gonna look down that alley.
