Guilt Is Good

No Apologies

What’s the one guilty pleasure you have that’s so good, you no longer feel guilty about it?

If one feels guilty about something, how can it be pleasurable?

Likely if one feels guilty about something the conscience is telling that person it is wrong and they should stop doing it. Once one arrives at the point where they don’t feel guilty it means the conscience has become calloused. It is no longer functioning in a way in which it was intended.  What is that old expression, “The best pillow is a good conscience.”

The trick is to understand the heart and the conscience. The heart says to seek pleasure, it wants immediate gratification and wants to ingratiate you. A properly trained conscience will tell you to do what is best for you in the long run.

Just because something is pleasurable does not mean it is beneficial.

The one avoided, broken-up, and distributed to others in the form of service to others. Let many others have what they need by sacrificing what you want. That’s a necessary action to stay awake in this world.

  6. Wonderfully said as always!!! So interesting hearing a Christian’s take on some of the daily prompt suggestions. I was just thinking how can I write something good about something that I feel guilty about? That’s just silly, so what do you do??? You turned this post on its head!!! Very profound, thanks. Shazza

The Jittery Goat does it again, he makes me reblog because of his brilliant writing style. He’s very straight forward and I love that his posts are long winded, (like mine) anyway, take a gander at his page and you won’t be disappointed!!!

Blather away, if you like.
